Monday words

Happy Monday loves!!

As a writer at heart, I have my days where thoughts and words just flow without meaning or purpose. Unfortunately for you, today is that day!! Enjoy, hope this helps someone!

Failure is never an option. Keep it as an opinion not a status. Love hard but Love smart! Time is something we can not get back, use it wisely!
We can not change yesterday but we can make tomorrow better starting today!
Karma can be our friend or worst enemy… Choose her relationship wisely. Give what you want to receive! Embrace those happy days because we can have plenty of bad ones. Smile through it, troubles don’t last always! Believe in what you bring to the table. Follow your dreams and your heart. Never give up on something you want! Do not be afraid to let go. Do not be afraid to stay and fight. Do not be afraid to just move on.
If one door closes, believe a greater one is about to open. If a person walks out, believe they were not meant to be present for what’s to come. If a situation does not work out, believe it was a temporary learning experience that you have mastered, now time to move on. Everything happens for a reason. Learn!
Look at just how big but small the world is, you are not an exception, LIVE your purpose!
The impossible can be possible! Give thanks for your support system, many do not have that luxury. Never forget your past for it molded you into who you are.
Do not waste energy on games, we have other things in life to promote that energy to.
Be positive! There’s absolutely no joy in negativity. Meditate daily. Clear your mind, just like a machine, we all need to reboot at times.
Begin your day giving thanks to yourself. We are our worst critics. You deserve a compliment from time to time so give it!

Have a happy Monday!!! Keep Karmalized!!

10 Days of happiness… Can you be happy for 10 days??

By now you all should know I do some of my best thinking late night/early mornings. So at approximately 4:49a, I’m wide eyed, thoughts flowing and ready to bring it!

I recently heard about a project going on called “100 days of happiness”. A couple people I know on Instagram decided to participate and have been doing a great job at posting things that makes them happy. Not exactly sure when it started but I did see that a day in March was allocated as “Happiness Day”. How nice!! … So looking through pictures and reading, I thought how cool it would be to do my own thing. My own “happiness project”

With the past couple weeks being challenging, I’m always up for a great challenge!! Im ALWAYS down for anything to relieve stress, smile more, laugh loudly and make you forget life’s little hiccups. Sooooo I decided to challenge myself to “10 days of happiness” !!! We all can forget how simple it can be to have happiness in a chaotic world. Not only do we forget to be kind (as I preach) but we can also forget how great it feels to genuinely be happy. We forget how a funny joke or convo can turn a frown to a smile or just how something as simple as an “Oreo milkshake with extra extra Oreos” can make our night that much better (Yes that was very specific but at least you know one thing that makes me happy lol).

With that being said, I will be doing my own “10 days of happiness”. I urge whoever reading to take a moment each day for 10 days and do something that makes you happy regardless how small. Post them to your IG and @me at @kindlykarmalized so I can see. I may feature your post 🙂 … I know we are ALL busy but let’s do something as simple as this … I will definitely be posting my “simple things” to my IG account so please follow and support!!

Thank you all in advance. Let’s post “10 days of happiness”. Start date: Today, May 5, 2014 aka Cinco De Mayo, how convenient!! Let’s goo!!

March Spotlight: The Courseaults

It’s March and this month’s highlight goes to some people that are near and dear to my heart, The Courseaults!! I first met Brittany Courseault in 2004 during dance tryouts at our college and later strengthened our relationship in 2007 as we entered into the wonderful sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha! Needless to say, she has been my creative and sensible, bossy yet beyond caring sister ever since! She married her high school sweetie, Jason, in the summer of 2012. Their union has been an inspiration and true testament of love, support, and strength!

Last night, I was so happy when she told me that along with her brilliant husband, they put together blessing bags to be handed out to those that were homeless in town. Such an AMAZING idea!! In the bag they included: lotion, wipes, toothpaste, shaving cream, soap, deodorant, and snacks along with a bottled water. To top it off, they hand wrote a small scripture on the front of the bag. My eyes burned with tears when I saw this and was instantly overjoyed! This couple, who are celebrating Mardi Gras presently in Louisiana took time out their schedules to make and hand out these bags to those who are less fortunate. This idea is definitely one I will be doing this month.

Thank you Courseaults for not only our MONTH challenge BUT our FIRST ever challenge!
We have about 25 days this month to complete the challenge!! Team up, make those blessing bags and let’s get Kindly Karmalized!!!

Volunteering for your Birthday!

This year for my birthday, I wanted to do something different. I decided to volunteer as a gift to myself. After searching for days for the perfect volunteer opportunity, I was welcomed by a health screening flyer who needed Nurses. How Awesome right? I thought “this is the perfect opportunity for me” so I jumped at the idea. Last Thursday, I gave my time and skills to conducting screenings including BMI, Blood Pressures, and HBa1c to individuals attending the famous CIAA events here in Charlotte. I gave information regarding abnormal testing (Hypertension, Pre-Diabetes, Obesity, ect) and answered questions participants had. It felt great to be out in the community educating and away from my usual environment. After I left the event, I knew the start to my birthday would be a satisfying one!

If you have a birthday or celebration coming up, I challenge you to take some time to volunteer! The feeling you get after doing something great is an amazing one. I can honestly say that it was a great jump start to an amazing birthday!

Snow day but warm hearts

Last week was an adventurous one to say the least but really showed me the good and bad side of humanity. Because of my profession as a Nurse, calling into work is not a big option for me. After a few scares, 10-15 mph driving and getting stuck under a overpass; I made it to work safely. On my way I was fortunate to meet two police officers that not only pushed my car up a hill but provided my fearful soul with words and followed me to work thereafter. Some may say this was their job however the way they helped was above and beyond. I wanted to get their names but they disappeared as soon as I pulled into the hospital. True men of distinction lol …

I stayed in the hospital for the remaining days since I had to work. I felt it was the safest thing to do for me and others. On Friday, in time for Valentine’s Day, I drove home. Highways were great but my neighborhood, not so much! What was I thinking to have thought my street would be paved. I ended up getting stuck yet again walking distance from my house. Wow ! As I tried to move back and forth, I noticed another car of a person that lived on my street stuck as well. I turned off my car and asked if they needed help ( Teamwork right?). As the two men pushed, I was in the driver seat pushing the gas. We went at it for about 10 minutes. After much determination, his car was out and he was on his way. No “thank you” to the man that helped him push or me. Crazily I thought he could help me as well but that idea disappeared along with the thought of getting at least a “Thank you”. I was confused at how people could lend a hand and he just acted as if it was expected. Nonetheless I moved forward and surprisingly two other men that saw my situation came to my rescue. They got my car out, drove my car home, held my hand as I walked through the ice AND shoveled my driveway ! All of this and expected NOTHING in return. I was so grateful for these two men! They not only saved my car but my broken spirit and exhausted body (Try staying at work for over 48 hours working… ).

Later that day, I learned that the two men had been helping people out since the snow fell through shoveling snow, pushing cars and pulling cars out of ditches. I was amazed… So I decided to give them a gift as a token of my appreciation. One of the men was a college student so I know exactly what he will like.

Lessons learned: my car will stay off icy roads from this point on. And muscle cars are wimps on icy roads. In addition, It’s amazing to have seen the ‘not so good’ side of man and end with two great souls lending their help. Talk about KindlyKarmalized…

What am I doing?

Everyone has a purpose in life whether you are aware of yours or not. Everyone has a calling that either shows from day one of you entering this life or becomes evident after a period of struggle. Some live their purpose driven life with no hesitation while others continue to fight it day-to-day. My passion to impact the lives of others through kindness and love have always been a personal preference, my strength! However, the battle I have tried to fight with it ended years ago. I was once asked, in a group setting, “what I was great at”. While others replied painting, fashion, cooking, poetry, I replied “loving”. The embarrassment of my reply was evident in my red face from the awkward stares I receive afterwards. I’m pretty sure I wanted to hide under a huge rock. Since then I have tried to look deep within myself and find what moves me, what makes my heartbeat. The answer is just doing great things for people. Simple! I am a Nurse and my profession allows me to do this each day. Ofcourse not every day is a day of love, devotion and kindness however, I am beyond happy to be among people who continue to give of themselves each day with no reward in mind. I am in love with being a Nurse!

Kindly KARMAlized came about after a night of thinking on how I can impact the world. unfortunately I am not a big star or a powerful being of the world but I do have a huge heart. I wanted a way to broadcast “kind deeds” of myself and others to influence more kindness in a world filled with hatred, racism, greed, and unfairness. I feel everyone has a little kindness in them and simply putting positive vibes in the atmosphere can influence another person’s day ( Yes I am one of those people who believe in the universe lol). You NEVER know what a person is going through and how much a kind word or simple gesture can help a person’s day go better or easier. It is too many times we get caught up in our own lives that we fail to see some one else going through worst and crying out for help. Instead of ignoring them, I challenge you to take a look at your blessings and how you can help. No, I am not asking for anyone to take on the world. BUT, I am asking to do one gesture of kindness a day. If your gesture is holding a door for 5 people today, I’m sure that person will appreciate it and continue the process.

For this site, I will be posting ideas of gestures and challenge individuals to do one gesture a day. I will talk about things I am doing or have done in hopes to influence someone else. I will also put the spotlight on those in my community that have made a major impact in a life. I am so ready to get KARMAlized… Hope you are too!
